New Mexico’s fiber heritage comes alive at the Florence Hawley Ellis Museum of Anthropology. Rotating exhibits featuring the work of regional fiber arts guilds and Northern New Mexico College students cycle through the calendar, sharing space on thick adobe walls with the museum’s permanent collection of prehistoric, historical and contemporary Native American and Spanish colonial arts. The exhibits offer a diversity of locally produced traditional and contemporary arts: weaving, embroidery, beadwork, knitting, crocheting, hand-dyed yarn and basketry. Classes in fiber arts are available year round.
The museum is open all year Tuesday – Saturday, 9-5; Memorial Day, Labor Day and Sundays, 1-5; Closed last two weeks of December.
We are #40 on the fiber Arts Trails.
